Since 1999, San Diego’s Tenshun (or 10shun for short) has been pounding out dirty drums and intense distorted electronic soundscapes of terror. Peep his resume and you will see this cat is for real no slouch…
His series of split 7″s with Myself (also from San Diego’s Skrapez Crew) have helped secure his reputation.
A track on TSLOS’s Invisible Superstars 001 LP in 07 earned Tenshun’s track ‘Mindfuck’ a good deal of hip-hop radio play (despite the FCC unfriendly title, the track like most of his work contains no vocals) and writeups from various blogs around the globe.
Here are some of my reflections on some of his work:
Violence cassette – This is one of my favorites of his, as it ventures into some head-nodding uptempo jams as well as some amazing high-speed turntable work. Limited to 50 copies.
Tenshun vs Myself #3 – I think this is one of my favorites.
Tenshun / Youth : Kill split 10″ (vulgar/) Lathe cut limited to 24, yes that is 24, copies. These European kids have just gotten sick with the limited shit!!! My copy came with a bonus disc of video including walter Gross (aka Mikey Carr) freestyling over some super slowed and screwed Tenshun. Just really incredibly abstract shit all the time. Its why I love these guys….
